Benifex named a Sunday Times Best Place to Work 2025 and Technology award winner
23.05.25
Benifex is delighted to announce it has been recognized as one of the Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2025. In addition to earning a place on the prestigious list, Benifex has been named as the Technology category winner among companies of its size. This recognition reflects Benifex’s unwavering commitment to cultivating a people-first culture while delivering remarkable employee experiences across the globe through its technology.
The Sunday Times Best Places to Work Awards, powered by WorkL, recognizes organizations who have achieved outstanding workplace cultures, consistently high levels of employee engagement, and innovation in the employee experience in the UK.
Benifex’s inclusion is especially meaningful as the business has undergone a transformative year, uniting Benifex and Benify to form Benifex – while sustaining a high-performing and deeply connected culture centered around its mission, purpose and values.
Karen O’Neill, Chief People Officer at Benifex said “We are incredibly proud to be named a Best Place to Work by The Sunday Times, and even more so to be recognized as a winner in the Technology category. This award is a tribute to our remarkable people. In the last year, we’ve brought together two outstanding organizations, and the way our teams have embraced this journey – with positivity, collaboration, and a shared belief in our purpose – has been nothing short of inspiring.”
The Sunday Times Best Places to Work Awards uses 26 questions from WorkL’s employee engagement survey, developed by behavioral scientists, data analysts, psychologists, business leaders, academics and other independent parties to most accurately monitor engagement, wellbeing and discretionary effort in the workplace. To achieve a high overall engagement score, an organization must score well across WorkL’s six-step framework:
- Reward and Recognition
- Instilling Pride
- Information Sharing
- Empowerment
- Wellbeing
- Job Satisfaction
To be considered for the list, more than half of an organization’s employees had to respond to the survey – and companies must achieve a minimum 70% overall engagement score.
Benifex scored highly in all areas of the survey – with an 88% engagement score, which is 10% above the industry average.
Benifex scored 89% for empowerment, 88% for job satisfaction, 88% for instilling pride, and 87% across reward and recognition, information sharing and wellbeing. 93% of employees said they have a good relationship with their manager, 90% said they’re trusted to make decisions, and 89% said they feel proud to work for the organization.
Here are just some of the ways we’ve been supporting our people in the last 12 months:
- Enhanced benefits, including a new maternity policy which ensures employees now get 26 weeks’ pay at 100%. Benifex recently introduced volunteering days – all employees get 2 days per year to give something back to the community and environment. This is on top of the 31 sustainable, inclusive and flexible benefits that employees can select through Benifex’s own platform.
- Benifex’s Wallet product is the ultimate way to recognize that each employee has unique needs. Benifexers got early access to OneHub Wallet, and since February 2024 all employees globally receive a £50/month card-based allowance to spend on anything they like. 96% of employees use their card at least once a month.
- Supported career growth through a new e-learning tool, Thrive (which is already used by 95% of employees), introduced career pathways, and ran manager training over a course of 7 workshops.
- Benifex’s recognition tool (part of our platform) is a big part of our culture, allowing colleagues to send in-the-moment thank yous for living the values. Benifexers sent 3,605 recognitions in 2024!
- As well as being a remote-first organization, Benifex supports over 100 different flexible working patterns and we have 70 part-time employees, meeting diverse employee needs. 226 employees also made use of the holiday trading benefit. In 2024, Benifex was also accredited as a disability confident employer.
- Benifex takes its ESG mission seriously. Through our Trees with Benefits initiative, in partnership with Furthr, a tree is planted every time a Benifex or customer employee – selects a benefit on our platform. This year, we’ll reach 1 million trees planted in reforestation sites in Madagascar and Nepal. Benifex and Zellis Group achieved a remarkable 12-point increase in our EcoVadis score in the last 12 months, putting Benifex into the top 15% of companies and significantly above the industry average.
“Our mission is to create remarkable experiences that people love. As well as delivering that for our customers and their employees, our mission starts with the experiences we create for our own people. This is the third year running that we’ve earned a place on The Sunday Times Best Place To Work list which reinforces that we’re doing just that.”
Benifex’s remarkable culture is also propelling our high performance. Benifex had its strongest year to date in terms of revenue and we also won 21 industry awards in 2024 – our most ever – across different areas of the business,” commented Karen.
