Over the past 12 months, 64% of employers report having expanded or improved their benefits offering, according to our research. At the same time, only 32% of employees say they notice it. And half of all employees say they find it difficult to understand or access the full value of their compensation and benefits. That creates unnecessary problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Benefits no one knows about make no difference<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Many organizations invest significant resources in negotiating good benefits, expanding their offering, and staying up to date with what competitors offer. That matters. But if employees don\u2019t know about the benefits, don\u2019t understand them, or can\u2019t easily use them \u2013 it doesn\u2019t matter how good they look on paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This isn\u2019t about employees being uninterested. It\u2019s about benefits too often being fragmented, poorly communicated, and far removed from employees\u2019 everyday lives. They sit somewhere on an intranet, in a welcome letter from onboarding, or in an email sent out a year ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The result is a persistent gap between what the organization invests and what the employee actually experiences. And, combined with rising costs to deliver the same benefits year after year, this raises an important question: is HR getting a return on its investment if employees don\u2019t even know it exists?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When technology becomes a necessity<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Our latest survey shows that employees with access to modern benefits technology \u2013 in which compensation and benefits are visible, personalized, and integrated into a unified employee experience \u2013 are significantly more satisfied with their total rewards. Not necessarily because the benefits themselves are better, but because they\u2019re visible and easy to understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this context, a benefits platform isn\u2019t just a communication tool. It becomes a way of turning investment in benefits into perceived and real value. It\u2019s the difference between a benefit that simply exists and a benefit that actually makes a difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But technology alone doesn\u2019t solve the problem. It also requires a shift in how HR thinks about its role. The question is no longer just \u201cwhich benefits should we offer?\u201d but \u201chow do we ensure they actually land \u2013 and that employees understand what they\u2019re worth and actually use them?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
